d-_-b Music Monday! | “Werewolf” By Fiona Apple

She sings, “I could liken you to a werewolf, the way you left me for dead, but I admit that I provided a full moon.  You can only see a line like that after you have lived, loved, been bruised but not broken.

Movie Minute: Snow White And The Huntsman

In short, Snow White and The Huntsman is a visually stunning film, with an interesting feminist / man-hating undertone and a juicy true love kiss twist!

Kristen Stewart’s performance as Snow White was mind-numbingly boring!  She’s great in indie films - she shines in a way that is genius but throw her in a mainstream blockbuster piece and she just goes blank. Sorry but K. Stew just didn’t do it for me as a bad-ass Snow White. Now Charlize Theron brought it as Evil Queen, Ravenna. She gave the character depth and a slight sympathetic edge that made you want to find a way to help Ravenna break free of her cursed life.  And Chris Hemsworth bless him for creating a symphony when working opposite one-note K.Stew. Hemsworth’s Huntsman is a lovable, strong, mess that fights fiercely for love. Will there be a part two probably and if there is please please PLEASE make it about more than some half ass love triangle.

Zombies Are Having The Best Week EVER!

“28 WEEKS LATER”, “The Walking Dead” move aside cause there seems to be an auditioning process underway for an untitled zombie reality show. Oh wait! No sorry, it’s just the world falling to pieces and we are in what appears to be phase 1 of the Zombie Apocalypse, which may actually be upon us any day now if things keep continuing as they have been.

In case you’ve been in a coma, here’s some links to catch up on what you’ve missed:

Funny Friday | ”Little Things We Share” by George Carlin

This bit is hilarious, raw, honest and freakin’ timeless! In 1992, George Carlin taped his eighth HBO special, Jammin’ in New York at the Paramount Theater in New York City and Carlin considered this his favorite HBO special.

Enjoy That Big Gulp While You Can

NO smoking in restaurants and parks. NO artificial trans fat in restaurant food.  Calorie content must be posted next to the price at chain restaurants. Up next… a ban on large sugery drinks?

Yup, that’s right! New York City plans to enact a ban on the sale of large sodas and sugary drinks including energy drinks and pre-sweetened iced teas at restaurants, movie theaters, street carts, delis, fast-food franchises and even sports arenas. The sale of any cup or bottle of sweetened drink larger than 16 fluid ounces would be ILLEGAL; this could take effect as soon as March 2013.  In this on-going war against obesity, the administration of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg strike yet again with this outrageous move.

I’m all about living a healthy lifestyle - eating right, workouting regularly, not smoking and that is my choice. If someone wants to swallow a big gulp that’s thier choice too. The keyword here is CHOICE, why are we being stripped of our right to CHOOSE.  Besides, what’s stopping someone from just buying two 16-ounce drinks to quench their thirst?

The first rule of improvisation is agree. Always agree and say yes. When you’re improvising a scene, this means that you’re always required to agree with whatever your partner has created … Now obviously, in real life you’re not always going to agree with everything that another person says. I mean, that would be ridiculous. But the thing about the rule of agreement, I think, is that it teaches you the second part of it, which is to respect what your partner has created … I think that leads you to a great, open-minded starting place. To start with a yes in all your interactions and then see where that takes you.” ~ Tina Fey at Fieldston High School (2008)
